“Living photography builds up, does not tear down. It proclaims the dignity of man. Living photography is positive in its approach; it sings a song of life” – Bernice Abbott
BIO
Matilda Egere-Cooper was born in Houston, Texas, but established a successful career as a music writer in London after earning a BA in Journalism at the University of Arts in 2002. Working for organisations such as the BBC, ITN, i-D, Dazed & Confused and The Independent, she was named Writer of the Year at the Record of the Day Music Journalism and PR Awards in 2007. A year later, she decided to pursue her passion for photography after developing a portfolio of candid shots from the gigs she was commissioned to review. With a keen interest in portraiture, documentary and human-interest stories, a soulful and youthful aesthetic dictates her vibrant style of photography, and it aims to present the moments many are often too quick to discard.
Cooper is pursuing a number of personal projects in 2010.
